Bianca Silenzi de Stagni
I am a Brazilian and Argentine artist born in Santos, São Paulo, who, due to circumstances in my life and my father's work, had to live in different countries from a very young age. This gave me the opportunity to learn about many cultures, broadening my view of the world and my aesthetic sense, and also confirming that beauty is beautiful everywhere, because beauty is a universal language.
My original academic background was in law, and I became a lawyer, but I never really felt comfortable in that profession.
It was when I moved to Barcelona with my husband and children that we opened a concept store that combined an exhibition of paintings, like a small gallery, where our products were printed with the works of our partner artists. All those years of working with so many artists, visiting galleries, fairs and museums, learning about techniques and materials, added to the memorable and happy afternoons I spent absorbing new and beautiful things that my daughter learned at the Llotja School, made me increasingly eager to express myself through painting, with the confidence that I could do it well.
My art seeks to bring a sense of calm and pause from everyday life to transport the observer to a hidden place in the past, warm and comfortable, almost childlike, where contemplation and serenity are the sensations that command my little orchestra of colours.
My central characters are small humanoids that I call little shadows, who always appear alone in the company of an equal, but often accompanied by a small animal.
The little shadows live gentle moments and just want to let life flow. Everything is so light and soft that it invites a smile.
My technique mixes acrylic painting, plaster texture and the use of recycled paper as a kind of collage.The paintings have vibrant colours that contrast with each other in a very harmonious way, without losing the feeling of tranquillity that the works emanate.
The landscapes are specific and the settings are very evident, mixing the innocence of Naif with the assertiveness of the figurative. The work is done on 84x60 HDF board and has different textures.
